Summer Music Academy

Summer Music Academy offers an exciting three weeks of music immersion. Students can learn to play an instrument for the first time, or enrich their music studies. They develop musicianship in workshops and ensembles led by professional musicians, including members of Santa Rosa Symphony, all while making new friends with musicians from throughout Sonoma County!!

Classes take place at Sonoma Country Day School.

All registrations and payments must be received by June 23, 2017. A $25 Early Bird Discount applies to registration and tuition payment received in full on or before April 1, 2017. REGISTER NOW

Full Day Options (9am-3pm)

Full days of music create a strong foundation for young musicians ages 5-23! From 9:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon, every weekday for three weeks, students of all levels of proficiency are thoroughly immersed in the exhilarating world of music.

For children ages 5-6. Children learn all about music through age-appropriate choral, rhythm, instrumental and fundamentals activities.  

Musical Workshops
For absolute beginning as well as continuing musicians ages 7 and up. Children learn all about music through Choir, Rhythm, Instrumental and Fundamentals workshops.

Performance Academy
For more experienced instrumentalists. Auditions required. Children focus on performance in ensemble and deepen their musical understanding through composition and conducting coursework.

NEW! Theater Pit/Film Ensemble
For advanced strings, winds, brass, percussion and keyboards
The Theater/Film Ensemble is a survey course about the experience of being a working musician. Students will explore what happens in a recording studio, how to practice film scores and video game music, and what it’s like to accompany live dancers and actors. DETAILS


A La Carte Options (variable times)

Too busy to spend the whole day learning music? Workshops and Ensembles can be taken "a la carte" if the full day of music immersion isn't possible for you and your busy schedule. From Beginning Guitar and Brass to Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Strings and Percussion Ensemble, there is bound to be something for everyone in your family!

NEW! Kinder Violin Workshop  For children ages 5-6. Children learn about music through age-appropriate instrumental and fundamentals activities.  

Musical Workshops  Beginning and continuing level group lessons. A la Carte workshops include violin, viola, cello, bass, brass instruments, woodwind instruments, recorder and guitar. Adult beginners may enroll in workshops for violin, viola, cello or bass.

Performance Academy  Experienced instrumentalists of all ability levels can develop and fine tune their ensemble skills in one of these groups for young musicians: Prelude, Intermezzo and Chamber String Orchestras, Jazz Ensemble.
