Roustabout Theater
Guest Artist, Theater
Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Clark Houston Lewis, Roustabout Theater offers Sonoma County a variety of unique theatrical productions, concerts, classes and scholarship programs.
Roustabout’s Professional Ensemble engages local, professionally-trained theater makers to present seldom seen classic plays and important new plays, often in their West Coast premiere. We also offer Acting classes for adult performers. At the same time, Roustabout’s Apprentice Program trains the county’s most dedicated student performers, ages 11 to 18, as they perform in their own professionally-produced productions. We also support our students with rigorous classes in acting, dance and voice plus our unparalleled Master Classes with professional theater makers, including Tony, Grammy and Obie Award-winners, and on-going performances with the Santa Rosa Symphony in both their Family Series at the Green Music Center and the Pops Series at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts where Roustabout is the Resident Theater Company. Roustabout also facilitates Talkbacks with Alumni now working in the field which provides our students up-to-the-minute advice about pursuing and maintaining a career in the performing arts. Since its inception, Roustabout has produced over 50 shows and has provided over half a million dollars in scholarships for our students.
Each summer, Roustabout’s Summer Theater Camp also provides the opportunity for a diverse and committed group of young theater-makers to perform onstage or work backstage on a fully-staged musical, supported by our multi-disciplinary training program. Through working at Roustabout, our students substantially increase their empathy, confidence and collaborative skills.
