Alex Gall

Alex Gall spent his childhood in Washington, D.C. and Leonia, N.J., a suburb of New York City, enjoying the rich arts and culture opportunities afforded the residents and visitors of world-class cities. Mr. Gall received his Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology with a correlate sequence in Education from Vassar College in 1994 and spent the next few years working on archaeological projects throughout the United States.

After graduation, he went to work for a small, local cultural resource management company called Archaeological Services of Clark County (ASCC). In 2005, Mr. Gall bought ASCC, shortened the name to Archaeological Services, and has overseen its growth into one of the most well-respected archaeology and historic preservation companies in the region.

Alex and his wife Jeni moved to Vancouver in 2003. In 2010, they moved to the Carter Park neighborhood and Mr. Gall was voted Secretary for the Carter Park Neighborhood Association; he remained a member of the CPNA board until 2013.  In 2014, Mr. Gall was nominated and appointed to a position on the Clark County Historic Preservation Commission.  He served as Vice-Chair from 2018 to 2019 and was elected Chair of the Commission in July 2019.  The knowledge and understanding of Vancouver’s history that comes from practicing historic preservation for a profession was greatly expanded by the experience of serving on the CCHPC, as was his sense of civic responsibility. A lifelong lover of music, Alex enjoys playing guitar and was in several Portland-based bands from 1998 to 2013.
