Free Concerts for Youth
The Symphony presents six concerts per year (two by the SRS professional orchestra; four by SRS Youth Ensembles) at the Green Music Center’s Weill Hall, serving 6,000 Sonoma County elementary students, teachers and chaperones. In addition to experiencing the grandeur of the concert hall, children are encouraged to view orchestral music as an integral aspect of artistic expression. This is often the child’s first exposure to classical music. Many professional musicians credit attendance at a youth concert as the inspiration for pursuing a career in music.

Testimonials
“Most of my students have never been exposed to all the instruments and sounds of a symphony. We spent some time learning about the instrument families and tied the theme into one of our language arts stories. This made the field trip experience very meaningful…Learning music is a reward in our class and your program provided inspiration and motivation.”

“For one, the auditorium is gorgeous and you can tell a lot of craftsmanship went into it. My students don’t get out much, so it was a treat for them to experience something so special. It was wonderful to see students from different schools come together and that many of them played so well for having their training for a short time.”
