Painted Violins
The Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra will tour to Berlin, Leipzig, Essen, and Amsterdam in June 2025. Sixty young musicians will perform for local audiences and share the stage with European students. The Santa Rosa Symphony must raise $100,000 for financial aid, rental of large instruments, and additional expenses.
To help raise funds for this tour, we invited 18 professional artists from throughout Sonoma County to transform a stringed instrument into a work of art. This event, called “The Painted Violin Fundraiser,” will take place at the Santa Rosa Symphony concerts “Planets” on May 3, 4, and 5. The instruments will be auctioned in the Weill Hall Lobby before the concerts and during intermission. One-third of the collection (5-6 instruments) will be displayed at each performance.
The Symphony is very grateful to the local artists, who have generously volunteered their time and creativity to turn donated instruments into works of art. (List artists’ names here?)
Bidders must be present and prepared to pay for and take possession of the art piece at the end of the performance.
